Hump Day in Haiti!

The team started off as usual with a great breakfast, then off to the site.

We took the forms off our landing in front of the storeroom, and it turned out great.

The ladies don't start VBS until after school, so they asked if there was anything they could help with in the morning. We had mentioned the need to move a stack of about 600 blocks from the front of the site to where they are needed; and before anyone knew it, a human chain was formed, and before long the stack was gone!

Meanwhile Chad and John continued work on the columns and made short work of them.

The Director's House team finished the floor of the second floor with the invaluable assistance of Graham and Ben lugging and passing up the sheets of plywood (they are extremely heavy!)

and then switched to the outside to begin attaching the joists for the porch.

Meanwhile Chad, John and Brad started the block walls for the House Parents' room and bath in Phase One.

As soon as the columns were done and the scaffolds removed, we started bringing in fill (4 truckloads) to even out the ground between Phase One and the Director's House. That Melissa swings a mean shovel!

What a day! The floor of the second level of the Director's house is done; the columns are done, the porch is started, as well as the interior walls of Phase One. Blocks and fill were moved. The ladies did VBS in both orphanages and did a mini-VBS in the community across the road that attracted over 40 kids. They are traveling far and wide with their evangelism, even to the tent city down the road, and are expecting a big turnout for the women's Bible study Thursdsy morning. A lot of the guys got to go over and charge their batteries visiting and playing with the kids. This team's enthusiasm and hard work both inside and outside of the orphanage has set a new bar for following teams. Please pray for continued health and safety for the team, and that the Lord will show us all the ways we can serve Him while we are here.
