Guatemala, March 15-21, 2014 FBC Palm Coast

Wednesday

Today's blog begins last night.   When most of us were exhausted from the day’s activities, several of us found that we could not sleep. So we decided to do what girls like to do - talk. I'm not sure how the conversation started, but it ended with us bonding even more through witnessing, sharing testimonies, and discovering and interpreting the Word. There was much laughter and reflection of our life’s experiences. It was nothing short of a women's retreat (even though it lasted only a couple of hours). We were blessed! But I am sure you don't think I'm going to share any of our talk with you, do you?  No way, because of what happens in Guatemala, stays in Guatemala.

Now to today:   We started with our morning devotion with prayer, song, Scripture, & a message. Today's devotion was intended to prepare us for the anticipated separation, as we depart to our homes on Friday; and leave the children we have been so blessed to love on for this week.  The Scripture reference was Psalms 100: 1-5, focusing on verse 5, "For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations." As such, even amongst tears and sadness expected with Friday's departure, we know God's love, grace, and mercy will be with these children forever; for they too are God's seeds.

Once again, Art and Ilvie did not disappoint us, and we had a delicious and hearty breakfast to sustain us - until, lunch time. (Lol.) After breakfast, we headed to our assigned stations with gusto; to the extent that most of us had to take a well-deserved nap.  You see, we knew that in addition to our regular assignments, additional afternoon chores were waiting for us.

Speaking of lunch, we cannot say enough about “our” Art & Ilvie's feast. They need to be careful, though, for they may find themselves in one of our suitcases headed back to Palm Coast.  Also at lunch, we celebrated Olivia’s (one of our translator’s), birthday.

THE MURAL IS COMPLETE! Colleen and her crew, Patricia and Susan worked tirelessly on this beautiful scenic art work.  We learned at “WOW” time that one of the residents (a budding artist herself) was able to add her special touch.  The mural will be dedicated tomorrow, and is in honor of Ilvie, as this was her dream.  God is so good!

We also want to thank Howie.  His day is non-stop, and with amazing patience he ensures that we have a full and wonderful experience.
