Guatemala, FBC Eustis

Tuesday January 15, 2013

Today included playtime with songs, puppets and puzzles, the variety of ways to come down the slides, sitting on laps, holding and carrying more, helping to feed the toddlers and babies and refilling the plates of the older ones and lots more hugs.  They love the eye contact and being noticed.  We are all weary tonight, but it’s that good kind of tired when you know you have accomplished something worthwhile.

God is so good…This was our second day at the Malnutrition Center. The children are all so beautiful, and each one has their own special quality that sets them apart from the next. Today, the team truly bonded with the children. Several had their hair cut. They loved it…so did I. Our team continued to be moved by the “WOW” moments like way the children respond to our touch, our voices, our hugs and kisses, or the way they show their unconditional love and concern for one another. They are a family brought together by God. Sure they loved singing, playing outside, puzzle and puppet time…and being held and hugged. And yes, there was much laughter and some tears. But it was the quiet moments, the prayers that penetrated our hearts and broke through the language and cultural barriers. The power and serenity of God’s presence was felt by all. He is our strength, our hope, our light and life…I can’t wait till tomorrow.
