Dominican Republic June 21 Team

Sadly, our time in the DR has come to a close.  Our final ministry day was filled with construction activities and sharing the gospel and love of Christ to the workers and children that were at the work site.  It was an amazing experience to build relationships with each person we came in contact with.

Two of our team members used an object lesson that included using rocks and dirt to show that you should desire to build your life on a strong foundation - Jesus Christ!  The workers were very receptive to this message and we had another great time of prayer with them.  We were also able to share a VBS-like story with the kids in the afternoon where the gospel was presented to them using rainbow bracelets.  The children were very attentive and enjoyed being around our team members.  We also had a wonderful prayer time with them.

The construction work also continued.  We were able to finish pouring the concrete on the second house that we were working on and then we were able to complete half of a third house.  It was amazing to see how our team meshed together with the local workers and were able to get so much accomplished.

We enjoyed a great last meal together on Thursday evening at the apartment.  We celebrated two of our team members birthdays and had a final prayer time for the Orphan's Heart DR staff that work so hard each week to help our teams have a great week while in country.  On Friday morning we packed up and headed back to the capital city, Santo Domingo, to do some shopping and sightseeing in the colonial district.  We took one final team picture in front of a statue of Christopher Columbus and then headed to the airport to start the journey home.
It was an amazing week and our team looks forward to seeing the progress of the construction project throughout the summer and to see how God will continue to move and work in the lives and in the community of El Carrizal!
