We needed to finish before the Haitian ladies started their Bible class, since the mixer makes so much noise. We just made it at a little after 9 as the ladies were trickling in. We had almost a hundred, even without doing any neighborhood walking. Even the two new wheelchair ladies came! We turned everything off and enjoyed the singing for awhile, making as little noise as possible. The ladies started filing out about 10:30,
so we got back to work on the framing in earnest. Blackie layed out the walls on the floor, and we nailed them together.
Then we raised up the two dorm walls and nailed and tapcon'd them in place. We will leave the other main wall down until we get the trusses up, then raise it and do the smaller bathroom walls.
Blackie finished the trusses yesterday, and they are ready to go up tomorrow.
This small team will end up doing a LOT more than expected: we are almost ready to put on the roof! Tomorrow we have the trusses and the remaining frame walls to do, then over to the orphanage for a well-deserved visit with the kids.
After we do the roof (next trip!), we will be finishing the interior, putting in plumbing and electric, and then windows and doors. Meanwhile, the plastering is going well in Phase 1. We're getting close!
The Lord is truly blessing this project, and everyone working on it is being blessed. We still need lots more volunteers to get the kids moved over by the end of April.
Come join us!
