HAITI - Thursday 02/21/13

Today was JOIST DAY. We broke the forms off the bond beam and started right in putting up the joists that Blackie, Dee and Griff pre-built on Monday and Tuesday. While Blackie and Bob took the lead getting the joists square,

the rest of us got the joists up to the second floor,

and then everyone pitched in and got them all up.

Meanwhile the Haitian ladies began to arrive for their Bible study, including the two ladies in their new wheelchairs.

We had a full house again, just over 100 ladies, and the guys were treated again to wonderful singing while we worked.

After they were done we passed out Manna Packs again as they left.

We were done with the joists by mid-day, and raised the remaining main wall, and then built the bathroom walls. Even Yves got in on the act, he swings a mean hammer!

All this week we have had a Haitian crew plastering in P1 again. Here they are smoothing out the walls in the main bathroom. They should be done in P1 next trip, and then we can get them over to the Director's house.

Finally it was all done, minus a few studs in one bathroom and the half truss on the end that needs to be tied into the small slab that will hold the water tank.

This team of "rented mules" has really done a fantastic job! The Lord blessed us with perfect weather, not too hot, and we worked most days from 7 to 5. The results far exceeded expectations, and has set the stage for finishing the roof next trip, a whole week early. The Lord also blessed us with no health problems or injuries, and with the incredible privilege of serving Him here. All thanks and praise for the glory of His name!

Come join us on one of these trips as we get closer to moving the kids into a decent, safe home!
