Today was a great first day for Team Port Charlotte!!! We are blessed this week with a construction
team, dental team and team helping with all the children!
The dental team started off with a slight setback thanks to
TSA in Miami but God always provides a way!
The team’s compressor for the dental drill was not allowed on the plane
which was a huge setback as there are tons of teeth that need fillings this
week. But God came through in a big
way!!! Olivia did some calling around
and found a compressor in Guatemala City that would work with their drills and
motor!!! So the team is good to go
tomorrow for filling teeth!!! Today they
treated 105 patients and saw all the children at the center, all the children
at the daycare and some of the workers at the Center. The dental ministry truly is saving lives as
there were several children from the daycare with severely infected teeth that if
not taken care of could have led to serious health problems.
The construction team has two big projects this week . . .
one of which is already completed! Part
of the group is building the “Chicken Taj Majal” or “Chicken Palace” (whichever
you prefer!) and the others are installing the dropped ceiling in the Chicks
room. The team working on the dropped
ceiling finished the whole project today! And it looks great! The guys building the new chicken coop got
the land cleared, building squared up and post holes dug today. It was the group consensus tonight that God
has once again assembled the perfect team to accomplish the task at hand. We also had a few awards given out today by
the team working on the chicken coop:
Awards for the Day!
Hardest Worker: Roy
Deepest Hole Dug: Erik
Biggest Root Removed: Michael
Most Dirt Moved: Zack
Most Nails Removed: Trey
The team working with all the kids had a great day too! The Ducks and Squirrels had some fun playing
outside with the parachute! Maria (our
newest Bunny) is still missing her mom but is slowly settling in. And the Bunnies and Chicks had fun with
bubbles!
We also have a physical therapist at the Center this week
working with children. She started off
today with the Canaries and we have a few children that we hope are starting to walk by
the end of the week!
