Another day of great weather, although very hot again ("feels like" 115 on Accuweather!!). The block laying crew finished the back wall 5 blocks up yesterday, leaving space for the ventilation windows.
Today they finished the front and side walls 5 blocks up.
And even had time to put the leads in on the corners.
Meanwhile the rest of the team knocked down the rest of the sand piles and spread them on the Phase 1 drain field.
And they even had time to knock down the old fill piles in front and spread them in the corner. The ladies were a big help!
This team was easily as productive as the ones before it, and even though they mostly worked on the back-breaking and "un-glamorous" moving of sand, the drain fields are just as important as the walls to getting the kids moved over. All in all the team moved 40 trucks of sand, which is about 220 cubic yards or 500,000 pounds! We are thankful for a week of wonderful weather, the opportunity to visit the kids multiple times, and safety in all we did. The Lord again provided just what we needed on this trip, and we're almost ready to put the roof on, which will allow us to "dry in" the Phase 1 building and begin our final finishing work.
Please pray that we will
get more teams soon, and consider coming to help out!
