So… Greetings from the FBCH youth on Mission in Guatemala.
We all arrived safely yesterday and had a chance to learn our way around the
center. The young people immediately
jumped into helping to change diapers and feeding the children here.
Today we started the morning off feeding the children. Then
we traveled to Finca Filadelfia where they are known for excellent coffee and
Zip Lining; most of the party zip-lined across the mountains. The zip-liners were trucked to their location
and were pushed across the valley…twice. The hike back to the truck was no easy
task. As they were heading back, other
members of the group toured the coffee plantation and enjoyed a custom made cup
of the plantation’s gourmet coffee.
We then toured the old city of Antigua. It began with the most
scenic McDonalds situated in an old Spanish style building with a garden and a priceless
view of one of the three volcanoes. The group
traveled to the market so that the kids could fine tune their bargaining
techniques.
One of the most memorable moments of the day was touring the
Cathedral, its ruins and catacombs. We enjoyed the scenery and the history of
this old city. We then headed for dinner at La Pena del Sol, where we enjoyed
some delicious food. After spending the day in Antigua we headed back to the
Malnutrition center and enjoyed some time worshipping together.
We are excited for
the week ahead. Praying and believing the Lord will do great things in and
through us!
