Wow! In this first day of hard work, each of the eight FBCH
youth shared how they were impacted today.
Lyda stated that she initially had a difficult beginning of
the day but then she received help from the other team member and that
energized her. Her hard work paid off at
the end of the day when one little girl finally hugged her at bedtime.
D.Z. was thankful for the adult leaders and for being able
to learn about God from those that he came with.
J.W.…well she changed a whole lot of diapers
M.J. One word, Beans. She was also willing to change assignments
with another team member. She loved to
wash the children’s play mats because it gave her a chance to play with
water.
M.M. - Today’s work was different and overwhelming. She just doesn’t do dirty diapers. However, she gained an understanding of
people who migrate to the USA without knowing any English. She can relate to the difficulty of learning
a new language in an unfamiliar place.
L .J. was as amazed that the children were happy with just
running around outside. He explained
that it took so little for them to be excited about the simplest things.
D.L. was amazing that they were all working together and got
a lot done even though they spoke different languages.
R.H.’s favorite part of the day was trying to feed the
children. He tried to feed one child in particular who
would not eat anything given by him. When the Nanny came and took over for him, the
child ate easily. Reggie jokingly wondered
what he did wrong.
The most memorable part of today was the work with the boys. They did an amazing job pouring concrete into
the floor of a home. They were so
helpful and excited that everyone spoke about their positive attitude. They were even competing to see who could do
the most or the hardest work.
