HAITI - Feb. 28

Haiti, Tuesday, February 28

When we arrived this morning we found our pump installed as promised. No more dirty water for mixing mortar!

One part of the block team continued with the bathroom foundation wall, while the other part moved up to the Pastor House to start the first floor walls there. As soon as the leads were put in by Alan, both teams were laying blocks fast.

By the end of the day the side walls were 6 blocks high and the back wall was coming up fast.

Yesterday the block team finished the main part of the phase 1 foundation wall, so today it was time to start extending the ramp over to the wall so we can begin putting the fill in it. This requires the earth moving team to break down and move the huge piles of fill dirt that the dump trucks bring in to us. One truck after another, the trucks dump a load and it has to be broken down and moved.

At the end of the day they were really tired but almost ready to have the trucks dump fill over the wall into the foundation.

Construction wasn't all that was going on, though. One of our block layers, Dale, passed out tracks the team brought from home (in Creole) and shared the salvation message with members of our Haitian work crew, some of whom are not saved.

And our ladies, Melissa and Renee, walked the main road passing out the tracks to the neighbors across the road.

Altogether a very productive day in every sense. Praise God for the work he is accomplishing here! Tomorrow we will all go visit the children, most of whom we saw in church on Sunday. But we are anxious to interact with them in a more informal atmosphere. Please continue to pray for our safety and health as we minister to all the children of God in this place.
