HAITI - Feb. 27

Haiti - Monday, February 27

First work day today! When we arrived we found the deep well all dug and pumping water through a hose into the ravine in front. They are testing the flow and are having the water tested at a laboratory to see if it is drinkable without further treatment. Tomorrow they will install our pump, and we will use that until we are ready to put in a submersible one and hook it into the water system.

We had worked out that there would be two teams, one doing blocks and the other filling the septic drain field with fill sand. At the same time, Pastor Edmond's crew was working on the outer wall. Quite a crowd! Here is our block team getting started on the Phase 1 foundation wall.

After our master mason Alan got everyone working on the main wall, he and Grey shifted over to the bathroom and started laying the first course and leads there.

Meanwhile, the sand team was knocking down and spreading the fill on the drain field.

Oops! here's another load...they just thought they could take a break!

Someone had the great idea of using a board to scrape the sand down and spread it.

At the end of the day, the foundation wall of the main room of Phase 1 is blocked up,

and the bathroom is about half done.

And after moving all that sand, the fill team moved almost 800 blocks up onto the Pastor House slab so that the block team can begin laying them tomorrow morning.

What a team! We are ahead of schedule and will start bringing in the fill for the Phase 1 foundation tomorrow. After the fill is in, we'll put in the plumbing and put down the remesh and be able to start pouring the slab. The first floor walls on the Pastor House will also be done by the end of the week, and then we can start wiring the rebar and forming the bond beam.

We met with Edgar today, he is the young man that Charlie Cox led to the Lord in January. He is still going to church, and has Jesus very much in his heart. David worked with us again today, too, and is close to coming into the fold as well. Please pray for these and for our continued safety and health this week. God is doing such great things here!

Be sure to check out our calendar of upcoming trips at www.orphansheart.org, and consider joining us in this ongoing work!  We are making every effort to get the children from the orphanage up out of the dirt and tents and into a safe shelter before the rainy season arrives!  We have room for you on a team in March and April!!  If not then, and if not in Haiti, then in another location around the world where God is at work and using Orphan's Heart in a great way!
