Today was not just our last day, it was Gate Day. Jeudi te rive! (Thursday is here!) When we got to the site, the framing was off of the main posts, which had been poured after we left last night.
Then the gate installers arrived and started welding the rail and guides together and to the rebar coming out of the posts.
Next the first gate panel was stood up and placed on the rail and in the guides.
And then the second one.
And there she is. Needs painting, but beautiful!
Meanwhile our crew kept up their block work and septic work until mid-afternoon, and then went to spend a few hours with the kids one last time.
This team far exceeded expectations in all it did. The main septic field was dug out and partially filled in with clean fill, and the Phase 1 foundation is about half blocked now. The next team will be able to finish it very quickly. And the Pastor House slab is wired and poured. We have had a very productive week, and are ahead of our original schedule.
We will be sad to leave the kids and the work behind us tomorrow, but many of us are already planning to come back soon, and we know the next teams will keep on with the good work that the Lord has set for us to do.
