HAITI - February 7

Haiti - Tuesday, February 7

The Lord has blessed us again with another beautiful clear day, with a wonderful cool breeze that raised a cheer about 2 in the afternoon when it was most needed. Today we transitioned from the Pastor House slab back to the orphanage Phase 1 building. First, we removed the forms from the Pastor House slab. Everything turned out great, and now we're ready to lay the block walls later this month.

The blocks we ordered for the Phase 1 foundation wall came without the "through holes," which we needed, and our next block delivery is not until Thursday, so several team members spent hours knocking the holes in the blocks and hauling them over and positioning them for the foundation work.

Meanwhile, some of us started work on the septic tank under the direction of Bill Jones, our expert block layer, laying blocks on the slab that last week's team poured.

Then Bill switched over to the foundation and began the stepped corners, which will guide the rest of the team in laying block tomorrow. The footer and rebar that last week's team labored so long and hard on turned out perfectly square, and made the layout easy.

And some of the team went back to the septic drain field and got almost all of the second trench (of three) dug.

Pastor Edmond and his Haitian crew have started building up the front wall of the compound so they can install the gate, which will be delivered tomorrow. He claims he will have it up by Thursday, so our new rallying cry is: "Thursday is coming!" We can't wait to see this next very important step, which will improve our security greatly.

God continues to bless us and our work here. Please pray for our continued safety and good health, and that our witness among the neighboring Haitians will bear fruit.
