We started the day at Pastor Edmond's church, where we heard the wonderful Spirit-filled singing that inspires us every time. The children joined us there, as usual; but unfortunately, we did not see Maxau or Marie, who had promised to come. Pastor Andy gave a short message in English, which was translated by our able translator, Marc.
After church everyone joined us for a short walk over to the site, and our usual prayer circle was much bigger today!
Then we got to work. One team installed the rebar posts in the Pastor's House, and now the slab is all ready to be poured on Monday.
Another team moved tons of fill around so we will have a ramp to get the wheelbarrows of concrete up onto the house. This team is really challenged by the prowess of the last team, and insists it will pour all 12 cubic yards of concrete for the slab tomorrow!
After building the ramp and preparing the slab, everyone moved down to begin the main septic field. There will be three of them, but we only did one today, because we wanted to get over to see the children.
The team had brought gifts of school supplies, two special soccer balls that don't need pumping up and never go flat, and pillows made by the ladies of their churches.
The pump was not working, so the guys fixed it, and will return tomorrow to clean the filter system and install a new battery. Water flowing again!
Some of the guys played soccer with the new "indistructable" balls.
There is a team of Dominican doctors staying with us this weekend, so we arranged for some of the children, who had minor ailments, to come over and be examined and treated. Menise got medicine she will use for a month for her scalp. It was already looking better, praise the Lord!
What a wonderful day filled with worship, work and fellowship, and ending with the neediest children being cared for. The whole team, many of whom had not seen the conditions the children were living in, is all charged up and ready to do battle with concrete tomorrow. Then they want to start laying block on the Phase 1 foundation and septic tank on Tuesday!
Please pray for our health and safety and that the rainy season will not come this year before we have finished all our ground work. We are all relying on God's wonderful provision, and know that His plan will be accomplished here.
