Saturday and Sunday
The group from FBC Pompano Beach & FBC Port Charlotte
Our flight was very smooth. Lunch was served, that is unusual.
Once we landed, we colllected our luggage and headed for customs. Howie said "this has never happened before" but the customs agents went through all our luggage pieces that had supplies in them. One of the team members had to offer his passport to be "black balled" for six months, meaning that he can not bring supplies into Guatemala for six months. Obviouly Howie's passport cannot be blackballed as he comes here just about every month.
Our drive to the hotel was very fun as the city was lighting their Christmas tree in the town center. Our rooms are great and even have fireplaces. Dinner was a pasta bar cooked to order while we watched. Orietation followed then off to our rooms.
Some were awakened at 3 am others at 5 am by our neighborhood rooster and the sound of birds singing. Remember there is no ac and some slept with open windows ar 52degrees. We had breakfast at 7:15 with a great breakfast buffet which included mashed black beans which were yummy. After breakfast had a worship service with a volcano backdrop. Sang songs and closed with the Lords supper.
Off to our ventures in a old Belgium army truck through the cobblestone streets to the coffee plantation and then up and up and up the mountain to zip line. 14 ziplined and it was breathtaking. The view below was beautiful. We have lots of pictures and videos to prove we did it. Some did not make it all the way across and one even started back. The zipline crew had to go out ad rescue her. Still nothing would stop us from going again. Back down the mountain for lunch at Pollo Campero and then after lunch a special festival was going on with unique arts and crafts in the central park of Antigua. We later went to the market place. Shopping at the market place was great! Transportation was provided by your local tuc tucs. Next we had our orientation and WOW time. (WOW's are testimonies of the day) Dinner and then off to bed!
