Amber and Anda working with Antonia in the kitchen
We had an early start again today, breakfast at 6:45am (in a beautiful hotel with incredible views!). After we ate, everyone from the team gathered for our daily devotional outside. Mitch Bueltel had an insightful message about blessings and how God truly can stick His hand into any situation and provide His amazing grace, mercy and love. By 8:00am everyone was loaded onto the bus or van and off to a day full of God's work. Eight of the guys (including Parker our only guy intern) partnered up with a local missionary to build a house for two sisters living together with their children. Everyone else headed back to the Malnutrition Center for more "lovin' on some babies!" (as Amber says). And so followed a day full of bathing, playing, feeding, loving, and changing many, many, MANY diapers. The Canaries, the tiny babies, were such sweethearts and you could tell they were thrilled to see us. The Chicks and the Bunnies, the 1-3yr. olds, were already toddling around by the time we got to them, and waiting with their arms raised to be picked up. The older kids, the Ducks and the Squirrels, were hiding around corners waving shyly and offering a cute, timid "hola!" to everyone who passed by. God is blessing us on this journey as well as the kids living here.
One way that God has shown himself to us was in passing out shoes. Nancy and members from her church in Niceville, FL donated tennis shoes for all of the staff members here at the Center. When we opened up the suitcase full of shoes to organize and pass them out, we were frustrated to find a women's size 9 and a boy's size 4 shoes, both sizes were supposedly too big and too small. However, God decided to prove us wrong. Lo and behold, there were two new staff members that we didn't have shoes for, and they wore those exact sizes! It's amazing how He works in so many different ways!
