Guatemala (July 2-8) Wednesday
Decisions
Today has been a day of decisions. Tend to the kids or work construction? Take Dramamine for the bus ride or try to tough it out? Feed the babies when it's time or let them keep sleeping? Fold mounds of clothes or Clorox Wipe dozens of plastic chairs? Doritos, Ruffles or Fritos? Get out of the tuk-tuk (Guatemalan taxi) and help push it up the steep street or stay inside and hope it restarts and makes it up the road?
A few of our team members are experiencing various of levels of infirmity. One intern is having trouble keeping anything down, but seems to be on the mend. Several are dealing with stuffy heads, runny noses and disappearing voices. But nothing horrible.
Speaking of decisions...one may be the level of confidence we place in the nighttime touring capabilities of the new interns. McD's seemed to be MUCH further away than it used to be. But, we did get to have a preview of the restaurant we'll be visiting tonight.
The two-woman blogging team today is comprised of 4-time Guatemalan mission returnees; Nancy-O and Lori-O. When asked why we keep returning to the malnutrition center, we say, "Just look at the faces on this blog." We have truly recognized that we have become the hands and feet of God as we hold, love and feed these precious children. It's exciting to see the children that were so ill and malnourished when be both visited for the first time 2 years ago. Now these children are not only surviving, but thriving!
We are so blessed to be a part of this ministry, and as one of our veterans shared today, "I have to keep coming back because on that first visit, I left a chunk of my heart here and I have to come back and visit it."
Thanks for your continued prayers and support!
Your G'mala Mission Team
