What a wonderful week God has given us! From sun up to sun down, rain or shine, our team has worked tirelessly to complete the job at hand. Team members from First Baptist Orlando, Big Pine Key and Kathleen Baptist have completed houses for two extremely gracious families while others served and blessed the staff and children at the Malnutrition Center.
The housing projects ended up taking more time than expected due to some rainy weather. From Tuesday to the early afternoon on Thursday, the housing crew spent hours completing the houses. On Wednesday, the team was there from 9:30 in the morning until 5:30 in the evening! Though the work was difficult, everyone felt a sense of happiness when the families first saw their new homes. God’s grace allowed a clear day for these families to receive these homes.
At the center, there has been nothing but smiles and good spirits with everyone loving on and enjoying these children. What a wonderful blessing it is to see these children’s spirit change with love and proper nutrition. All these kids want is us to love and hug on them. A little attention is a powerful thing. There has been one seven year old boy, Freddy, who has improved drastically this week since we’ve been here. When we first arrived, Freddy would not participate with anyone at all. It took some extreme coaxing to even get him on a swing. Freddy is one of, if not the, skinniest child here. He cannot participate in everyday activities without using the wall for support or else he risks falling over. Day by day though, improvement has been made. He is now smiling, playing with the other kids and completely full of life! What a wonderful miracle it has been to see!
As this week comes to an end, it is awesome to reflect upon the power Gods hand and see what he has done for these people of Guatemala. He has used us in countless ways to serve his people.
