Team Lakeland (First Baptist Church at the Mall and Scott Lake Baptist Church) arrived safely in Guatemala on Saturday! There were only a few events in the airports – all involving Becky Mullis. This is a must ask when you see her in person. Time and space will not allow us to go into detail here. Once we arrived at the hotel and checked into the rooms, it was time for a late dinner and off to bed.
Sunday AM was here after the welcome to Guatemala Thunderstorm during the overnight sleep. We gathered had bereakfast and then met for a worship time. It is awesome to know that no matter where we are our God is there and we can worship him in spirit and in truth. Sunday was mostly an acclamation day for the team as we adjusted to the altitude – some better than others! We had the chance to visit a coffee plantation and most of the group went on a zip line tour that was almost 400 feet above the canyon and over 1700 feet long. We even talked Jeanette Lethers into going – this would be consider a miracle if you know Jeanette. After some time at the market we had dinner and finished our orientation for the coming week. The team is excited and ready to serve. They are pretty tired tonight so I guess the altitude really does make a difference – at least that is our story and we are sticking with it.
Talk with you tomorrow. Praise God for this opportunity to serve.
