Monday
Monday, Monday, our first day of real work….FINALLY! The morning devotion set the tone for the entire day. Cason challenged us to decrease so that God could increase. The team took that to heart and let God’s love flow out of them today.
The needs at the nursing home are so great. The team was silent at first with the shock. The living conditions are worse than the poorest in America. This does not put a damper on spirits. The smiling residents were filled with joy, love, and sweet peace. Moms and Dads would be proud today. The youth poured God’s love onto these residents. They did not hesitate to touch, hug, and love on these people so different from them. The team entertained the residents and the residents entertained the team. It was hard to tell who was being entertained and who was being blessed more. As one of the residents stood and sang “Rock of Ages” it was obvious God was among us.
Lunch in the mall was like lunch in the Savannah Mall right down to the same fast food restaurants.
“That was AWESOME!!!” said Josie when asked about VBS. That summed it up for everyone. The team decreased and God increased. The kids were excited and full of hugs and questions. Smiles were seen on our sweaty faces as the team loaded the bus at the end of the day. We are ready for tomorrow.
Fish for dinner was the best meal so far. The snake under the table was even better. Last night Sara Beth was pooped on by a bird and tonight she had a snake at her feet. We are wondering what tomorrow will bring?
VBS Update:
180 kids present
30 Church workers
19 Orphan’s Heart Team members
