We Arrived!! Nicaragua – We finally have our feet in this country we have been talking about for months. Luggage, security, waiting, boarding, flying, gathering passports and documents, paying the entry fee, customs….it was all a breeze. God made the path smooth; we just had to walk. Well, after we found Olivia’s wallet and Frankie’s passport. The 700 plus flip flops that concerned us so, made it with not questions.
Sunday morning spent worshiping in Spanish was a warm experience. The language barrier could not keep out the Holy Spirit. His presence feels the same in Nicaragua as it does in Rincon, GA. While we know He is always with us, it is a blessing to EXPERIENCE it! Hearts of the church family were open and God’s love shined all over that church. We were hugged and kissed and made to feel at home. Visiting the church and learning the exact details caused us to make HUGE changes to our plans but FLEXIBILITY was the word of the day. Everyone smiled with Bryan’s new plan and we are set for a SUPER day of VBS tomorrow! We think…..
Shopping was FUN, even for those of us who generally lack this skill or the desire. Rosa (our translator) took us to an old castle set up for tourists to shop. The bargainers in our group made out well. Shoes, bags, gifts for loved ones back home, fill our bags as we loaded the bus once again.
Surprise, surprise…Howie took us to a volcano – an ACTIVE volcano. This unexpected treat was breath taking….the beauty and the climb to the top. Sulfur filled the air as the bus parked backward for a hasty escape down if there was activity today. The entire team hiked to the top and asked, ”Where’s Bryan?” Our fearless leader was at the bottom waiting for us…shame, shame.
Tucked into bed, we think, we are ready for a FULL DAY tomorrow. We will be working with the nursing home and completing our first day of VBS.
