Guatemala June 28- July 4, 2014

First Baptist Church Aurantia & First Baptist Church of Naples

Day 2:
Today was our first day at the Malnutrition Center. We spent the morning getting to know the kids and their routines. There was one new admission to the Canaries (the infant group) today, and two of the Ducks (the oldest boys) got to go home.

Brandon, one of the teen team members, is working with the Chicks. These are the kids between the ages of one and two, although one that is developmentally delayed is four years old. In Brandon’s own words, “So, yeah, I’m working with toddlers. They are learning to be potty trained, and speaking to me in their cute little voices in Spanish, making it a little bit difficult to understand what they want. It’s been so much fun playing with them, helping feed them, watching them interact and trying to ask me for things. It has been a very interesting day with lots of learning, trials, and fun.”

Some of the men that are working on some much needed construction projects completed building a door for a storage shed and almost completed another door for the Orphan's Heart team dormitory.

As a side note, several of the team members changed their first diaper today! We are looking forward to another great day tomorrow.
