God is at work in El Carrizal!
As always, we have another great, hard-working team working
on the homes and getting a lot done this week!
And although we enjoyed being productive on the worksite and seeing all
we have accomplished, that was not the best part of our day. The most impactful moment came in a conversation
between two of our team members (a mother and daughter who are both fluent in
Spanish) and Angela (a 14 year old girl from El Carrizal).
After work today, a group of kids from the community asked
us to go down to the river to enjoy a nice swim! As the team members and kids were splashing
around Angela sat down on the river bank with the mother and daughter and they
began to chat. Angela shared with them how
much she enjoyed the Bible stories that all of the Orphan’s Heart teams have
shared with the kids in the community. More than the
crafts, more than the games and music, and more than any gift . . . Angela and
the children of El Carrizal love to hear about Jesus! She recited the story of David and Goliath
and shared what she learned about the parables Jesus told about the Good
Samaritan and the prodigal son. She even
talked about how much her friends and family were looking forward to the
completion of the Community Transformation Center so that they could go to learn more about Jesus and
worship there!
We are so thankful for how God is working in the hearts and
lives of the people in this wonderful community! And we ask that you continue to join us in
prayer that people’s lives would be radically transformed by the Gospel of
Jesus Christ and that the seeds that are planted in the lives of children like
Angela will continue to take root and grow!
