UGANDA Interns Post #5

Another great weekend loving and serving the children of Kamonkoli!

We started off once again with Awana. This week we taught the story of Moses and the Red Sea. The kids responded very well to the story; we even pretended to be the Red Sea (all 200+ kids) and watched "Moses" divide the Sea to make a path!  We also worked with all of the students on memorizing scripture. It has been so inspiring to watch children at such a young age take these scriptures to heart. They don't only memorize them, but it is evident in the way they explain the meaning of the different verses that they are learning to apply them to their lives.

After Awana we travelled with Mama Katherine into town to experience grocery shopping in Africa. It was packed! We loved getting to see life in town and of course getting a few snacks for the week! That night, we came back to Mama Katherine's house and stayed all evening for a movie night. We popped four huge bowls of popcorn, covered the floor in pillows, put on "Tangled", and we were one happy bunch! The room was filled with 15 girls loving every minute of the movie.

The next morning, we headed to church to teach Sunday School again! It was great to see all of their smiling faces worshiping God. This week we taught the story of Noah and the Ark. We talked about how Noah obeyed God even though he might have not understood everything God asked him to do. We also sang many songs. Please pray for each child that comes to church that they will continue to learn and understand the importance of following Christ.

After Sunday School, we had the opportunity of passing out clothing and shoes to the children present who were in the greatest need. The kids were so excited and thankful for the things they were given; it was so cool to see and be a part of.
