Dominican Republic - Jun-21-27, 2014

Day 2:
Today was just as amazing as yesterday. To begin with, we ran out of materials late yesterday afternoon. We were informed that more had been ordered but was not expected until after lunch today. To our surprise God showed up in a big way, when not even thirty seconds after we arrived, the truck carrying all the supplies that we needed pulled in. We, as a team, fully believe that this was God’s way of telling us that He was there with us, supplying everything that we needed.

We have nearly completed the first house; only lacking the final concrete that needs to be poured into the walls. The second house is coming along nicely, and we all hope that we will be able to finish it tomorrow as well, but are prepared for whatever surprises that God may have in store.

As for the team members ourselves, we have grown closer together by leaps and bounds. We all fit together perfectly in a way that only God can provide. We have been able to open up to each other and have had moments that were God led. For 17 people to have the same beliefs and to be able to connect on a spiritual level is straight from the Holy Spirit. For this, we are truly blessed. He has given us each our own sets of strengths that combine to make an amazing team. In our discussion time we all have said how blessed we are to be together.

As we continue to grow closer to God and each other, we also continue to grow closer to the men at the construction site and the children that come to see us. Today one of our own led devotion with the men at the site, and we were able to give them Bibles translated in Spanish. You could see the surprise and hunger they had for the Word of God. During the few breaks that the men took, you would see a few of them looking through the Bible, and while during such a time one of our team members was able to sit down with one of them and help him find different verses.

What we fully believe is our second miracle for today started off in not the best way. One of our team members woke up with a terrible migraine, and after taking medicine it had not gone away. During our devotion today we prayed for her, but she still had it while riding on the bus to the construction site. To get to the site we have to drive through a town that translates to “The Heart of Jesus” and we had decided last night to stop this morning to take a picture with their welcome sign. As soon as she walked up to the sign her migraine disappeared. During the discussion group she revealed what had happened and said that just before we stopped that she had prayed to God asking Him to take the pain away so she could focus on building the house and playing with the kids. We believe that this was God’s way of telling her to follow His commandments to complete the goal He placed her hear to fulfill.

We ask that you pray for the people of Azua, the men of the construction team, and for us and the teams to follow, that we would continue to minister to them.
