“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:4

Today, one of our team members stated the most sincere and amazing truth, “I would have never thought I could love children that I just met as much as I love my own children.” But that is what we end up doing. Each team member finds a child or 2 or 5 or 20 that they love just as much as they love their own. This love is a sign of the truth and glory of God’s creation. He made us in such a way that we show LOVE. It’s not something that can be counted or quantified by any scientist, it’s not an emotion; it is a gift from God.
This gift is meant to be shared, and share we do. The children at the center will move your heart by their open arms, their huge smiles, their bright eyes, and their tender tears. You then will open up your arms, your lap, and your own heart to love them right back.

The love that we give them is a love straight from God. He is working through us, as well as bringing His own love and healing through the Holy Spirit. Our 13 year old, Samuel, is still on the mend. Through blood tests we now know he has a liver disease, meaning more tests. But this answer brings us one step closer to finding a cure for him. Sweet, 9 month old, Maria Virginia, in the Canaries is already getting healing from Scarlett fever because of antibiotics and many prayers. Little man, Javier, who was suffering with fungal skin infection all over his body at the beginning of the week, is healing quickly and feeling much better.

Our trip brought an extra dose of God’s love by some of you back in the states. Many of you helped us to raise our goal of $5000 to provide food baskets for 100 families here in Guatemala, and through your love we exceeded the goal twofold. As I type, the rest of the team members are putting together baskets (or tubs as one team member stated) of food for the families of the children, the nannies and the workers here at the center. Tomorrow, we will be blessed to meet all of these families and deliver to them fresh fruit and veggies, rice, beans, oil, and so much more (including some yummy chocolate). As I was telling a special team member (who isn’t here in person but here in Spirit), everything you make or send for these children takes a piece of your heart with it and it’s like you are right here with us.

If your heart is saying to you, Go, but your mind is saying, I don’t have anything to give, don’t be deceived. All you need is the ability to love, and that is the gift that was freely given to you.

“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or tongue, but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18
