We're leaving changed!

Today was our last day at the Malnutrition Center. It was wonderful and heartbreaking all at once. We were blessed to get to see Tony from the Ducks go home today! It is truly amazing to get to see the Lord’s work at hand and to see the healing He is brining about at this Center. The Lord is good and faithful.

Let’s see, what did we do today? Samuel, one of our newer Ducks (13 years old) got to be Don and Mike’s apprentice for the day. He helped with different maintenance projects, and the guys even left him with a tester for the electricity! He is a wonderful kid, and we pray he finds healing quickly.

Jessica, one of our newest bunnies, laughed for the first time today! She is struggling with bone health issues at the moment, but we have found that she is much more mobile if she is on a tricycle! We hope it will strengthen her legs and get her active and going!

There were many tears as we said our goodbyes to the children and women of the Center. The way the Lord works through the people there is unbelievable. If you are able to be a part of it, even for just one day, God will truly blessed you beyond measure. It  is impossible to leave this placed unchanged. It changes your heart, your values in life, and the way you see God moving. You are broken and sad, yet filled with an overwhelming joy at the love of the children and the hope that God has placed here. We pray that God continues to move and work in unexpected and beautiful ways, and we await the day where each child is reunited with their families in health and in the love of the Lord!

We are so sad to be going home but excited to share this renewed sense of wonder in life with those around us, to live out life for Christ in a more tangible way, and to seek the things above as we live out our lives on earth. The Bible tells us, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Our treasure is indeed in heaven with the Lord, yet I think our hearts are also with the loving people in the San Juan Sacatepequez Center of HOPE.
