DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - 10/19/13

Soft Landing

Today was a travel day, with the team meeting early in Miami. The Lord blessed this Grand Island Baptist Church team from Central Florida with great weather and no delays, and we were assembling with all our bags in Santo Domingo a little after noon.

Then it was off to the Zona Colonial (the old town) for lunch and a little "tourist" business. The main event was the Old Cathedral, first one built in the New World.

We discovered on the way into town that one of our two vehicles had a significant radiator leak, so we had to spend more time in town than originally planned (que lastima!), and decided it was best to just eat in town, since the trip out to Azua (AH-zoo-ah) is over two hours. Fortunately ,Stephanie knew of a great place along the esplanade named Adrian Tropical, and we had a great dinner there while waiting for the radiator repairs. Josh ordered the "Adrian Grill" and ended up eating most of a cow and other assorted animals, but he was up to the task!

The sunset was incredibly beautiful. We serve an Awesome God who does not hesitate to lavish His blessings on us in every way.

It was a tired but happy team that finally rolled into Azua a little before 10, unloaded the vehicles and went to bed. Tomorrow Pastor Don will do a live feed from here to his church over the internet, and then we will head for the construction site. Please pray for us this week that we will stay well and have no injuries as we continue the building and minister to the children at the local school.

Hasta maƱana!
