Our days begin with an hour
drive through the mountains of Guatemala. What breath-taking scenery! When we
arrive at the Center, we all head to our assigned jobs.
For those of you that
have never been here, the Center is divided into 5 groups of children. The
Canarios (Canaries) are the babies/non-walkers and are usually the most
critically ill children. There are 34 children in the Canarios! So the team that worked in there fed, bathed and loved on them all. Then come the Conejos (Bunnies) and the Pollos
(Chicks), who are the toddlers. Most of them are toddling around and are starting
to feed themselves. The last two groups are the older children, the girls are
the Ardillas (Squirrels), and the boys are the Patos (Ducks). At this time we
have 106 children at the Center, and every single child is being prayed over as we work at the Center!! So we are very busy!
Aside from working with the
children, there is a lot of work to be done at the Center. There’s the upkeep
of the building and meals for the team. Our maintenance team is doing some much
needed painting and lawn work. Art, our
volunteer chef, prepares delicious meals for us at lunch to re-energize us for
the second part of the day. So as you can see, the entire team’s talents are
used every day!
The days go by very quickly, and
it is hard to leave the Center in the afternoon! We are so blessed to be here
and thank you all for your continued prayers! More news tomorrow.
