Guatemala, Wednesday, July 24, 2013

Today was a wonderful day at the center with all 105 children!!  We got a new little boy in the Ducks this afternoon which brought the total number of children at the center up to 105.  A few of the children are well enough to go home soon!

The construction team finished sanding and painting four benches. The benches are now in the lobby of the center and will add room for parents to sit and visit with their sweet babies when they come to visit them.
The Canaries are BUSY!! I have lost count, but there is somewhere around 34 babies!  That’s a lot of bathing, diapering, feeding, and MORE diapering!! One of the afternoon projects was to just go around and restock all the diaper changing tables with more diapers and wipes and then to help fold a mountain of laundry!! The canaries love to listen to music and play with a beach ball.

Emma, from the Leesburg group, finally got Edras to smile for the first time since he’s been at the center. He’s been at the center for 5 days and finally smiled and laughed today! He is so cute and it was very awesome to see him having such a fun time today!

Tonight we had our dinner in downtown Antigua at a wonderful restaurant called La Peña de Sol.

Today has been a wonderful day! Tomorrow will be a bittersweet day since it will be our last day at the center with the children! It will be a day of many hugs and kisses and probably a few tears too!!

Edras smiling...finally
