NICARAGUA - Wednesday 2/13/13

“And after taking them in His arms, He laid His hands on them and blessed them.” Mark 10:16

What a blessing it has been to reach out and share His love with these beautiful children.  We had a tearful departing this afternoon as we said good-bye to the children of the Samuelito Ministry.  We had over 150 today and continue to be amazed of God’s blessings on this church and ministry.

The afternoon started out with our opening assembly with music and story.  Joy shared the scripture about how she has been blessed, even though she has had a disability all her life, God blessed her as a child.  She told how she experienced God’s teaching through two animals, a donkey with a crippled leg and a “three-legged” dog, that allowed her to become who she is today.  Joy encouraged the children to look around and see how God loves them and wants to bless them each day.  The children were very attentive during her sharing.

After the assembly , the children gathered in their groups and enjoyed making bracelets and necklaces, learning about God’s Love Letter, and experiencing for the first time, sidewalk chalk and the parachute! (Half of the group used them yesterday.)  Of course, the afternoon ended with a delicious and nutritional HOT meal.  Many of the children do not ever have the luxury of eating hot meals… only when they attend the Samuelito Ministry, and we are thrilled that they have received 4 meals this week!

During the morning, the team was busy helping with the different projects around the nursing home--light bulbs changed, electrical wiring repaired, installing new light fixtures, replacing mattresses and making beds, and of course, loving on the residents.  We shared music and testimony and “the pastor” (one of the residents) share a wonderful devotional full of gratitude and blessings for the team.  We will return in the morning to have one last day of sharing with the nursing home residents.

PS... God continues to bless us with lower than normal temperatures and a nice breeze throughout the day!
