NICARAGUA - Sunday, 2/10/13

West Brandenton Baptist Church
Our first full day in Nicaragua was full of firsts.

For most of the team this is the first time in Nicaragua. We arrived on Saturday to a cool 85 degrees, and we're loving it.  For those of you who have served with us in Nicaragua you know that 85 degrees is a blessing!  And on Sunday the temps were the same.  It’s winter in Nicaragua!
The day started out with a wonderful breakfast and an early worship at Bethel Baptist Church.  We were greeted with hugs and kisses from the church members and felt very welcomed.  We were blessed to see two of the Samuelito Ministry children to be baptized by Howie.  The was a first for Orphan’s Heart to participate in the baptisms of the street children’s ministry.  It was followed by a wonderful time of praise and worship, complete with creative dancing and flags.  This was a moving time for the team as we truly felt the spirit of the Lord in the service.
This was the first time for the “youth” of the Samuelito Ministry to actually see a baptism.  We were introduced to some of the children that we’ll be ministering to during the week as they were in attendance this morning.  We were able to serve a special breakfast to them as we honored those who had been baptized.  We are looking forward to our VBS with the children this week.
After a delicious lunch at Narcy’s (the Pollo Campero of Nicaragua) we visited the market in the castle and the the Masya Volcano (active). Again, this was a first for everyone in seeing an active volcano.  We returned to the hotel eager to organize and make the last minute preparations for our ministry with the nursing home and VBS beginning tomorrow.
