Wednesday January 16, 2013

This is the day that the Lord has made…The team enjoyed many more “WOW” moments today. Nancy’s “WOW” touched us all. She and Wanda (one of our RN’s) are working with the infants (Canaries) all week. On the ride back to the Hotel Soleil, Nancy said, “I’ve been loving on this sweet little girl since Monday, and today she finally smiled at me!”

Wanda, Gloria, and Charleen, (also an RN) shared similar stories. Wanda spent time with the Center’s doctor discussing several infants’ progress.  I’m thankful for these little moments we all shared today.  I’m also thankful for Charleen and Tom taking tons of pictures this week. And Gloria, Allison, JP, Gary, and Bert for loving those children (Chicks, Bunnies, Squirrels, and Ducks,) like they were their own.

Several more kids had haircuts today. They all look so cute. Bert, JP, Tom, and Gary, did more repairs inside and around the property while the children took their naps. Others worked on inventory, folding clothes, and washing the infants' toys.

I’m thankful for Samuel’s driving skills…really! And, we are thankful for How Great You are, Lord.  Today my favorite word is, “Thankful.”

My favorite word today is "Grateful."
1. For Samuel our driver, who skillfully managed the hour drive each way to and from the Center.  The ride was beautiful and a great opportunity to bond with the team and discuss the events of the day.
2. For the loving care that Odilia gives to preparing lunches for the team.  I asked for an item, thinking it was already in our kitchen, and she immediately went down to the main kitchen to fetch it.  And that has been her pattern all week.
3. For the staff at the restaurant we went to for dinner tonight, who not only prepared delicious meals, but also presented them creatively on the plates.  I had a salad, but it was not tossed into a bowl, but formed on a plate with cucumber strips around the edge to make a bowl shape for the greens and other vegetables in the salad.  “This is a typical Antiguan restaurant,” Howie told us. We were entertained by a quartet of musicians who played many different instruments throughout the evening.  It was the necessary rest we needed to prepare for our last day with the children at the Center tomorrow.
