The team all arrived safe yesterday, and after dinner and introductions they were
treated to a very strong thunderstorm that flooded the upstairs balcony and
breezeway and worked its way into the guy's room upstairs and the storage room
downstairs. After a mad scramble to get bags off the floor and out of the way,
and mopping up as much water as we could, we finally got to sleep and had a
restful night.
This morning we visited Pastor Edmond's church. Seeing the children filled
our morning with joy as usual! How could our hearts not be melted by these
precious children? We stayed late and lingered long with the kids, and several
sponsors got to visit with their special children.
This was the first look at the
construction sight for many, and for those on the team that have been here
before, an equally impressive sight because of all the work that has been
accomplished since they were last here. After a quick snack, we got to work.
Bill Jones and one team went to work assembling the scaffolds so they could
finish blocking the end wall,
while Darell Rexroat and another team started the trenches and layed the pipe for the director's house septic drain field,
and Cliff and Jeff got going blocking in the front of the house.
Most of the ladies went back for activities with the kids, and on their
return pitched in with some of heavy work. It was a great start for the week. We
did not get the delivery of materials needed to start the roof, but we expect
them in the morning, and meanwhile the Lord has provided all we need to be very
productive. Please pray for us as we continue to work "at altitude" this week
and the ladies minister to the children.
