PAINTING PATOS AND ARDILLAS!

We had a blast painting with the younger Ducks and Squirrels who don’t go to the school here at the Center. We slapped on some smocks, but paint still ended up on lots of hands and even a few faces.  Volunteers traced their little hands, and we let them go! Smiles and giggles were abundant! We let the masterpieces dry and can’t wait to hang them up in our new Comedor.

What's this stuff on my hand?

After coming in from the playground a few of the Squirrels discovered a fan in the hall and loved cooling off in front of it.
Look who found the fan!

The Bunnies and Chicks enjoyed the playground outside today. All the girls were sporting darling pigtails. MARIA ASUNCION loved the slide, and they couldn’t get TELMA off of it! Little ANGEL enjoyed a nap on a blanket out in the sunshine.

I'm ready for the Olympics!

The Chicks have also enjoyed themselves in the bathroom lately. They are in the process of potty training, but while on their pots they’ve been spotted holding hands and even hugging. Who knew that potty training could be so friendly?!

Tara enjoyed her birthday here at the Center with a delicious Guatemalan cake! She also got to hold little MARIA FERNANDA today in the Canary room. Maria Fernanda’s mother is still here.  We’ve observed what a hard worker she is and have enjoyed her sweet spirit.
Feliz Cumpleanos, Tara!

Speaking of Canaries, little ADALIN is sick. Please pray the she feels better soon.

The maintenance crew has been hard at work all week, and their work is complete on the brand new Comedor! The Ducks and Squirrels will now be eating meals and meeting in the room across the hall from the school. It is conveniently located near the supply room, so puzzles, craft supplies, and toys will be easily accessible. This morning the crew had to go into town to get a few supplies from the hardware store and toted lumber all the way up the hill to the Center- and it’s not an easy hill to walk up! We are excited to show the kids their new room and can’t wait to enjoy it!

Shannon helped make snack today and shared at WOW time that despite our language barrier, we can still easily communicate with the women here and accomplish what needs to get done for the children. Daphine was also in the kitchen this afternoon and led the devotion for the women.

Living at the Center has been great! As I type, there are games of UNO, Monopoly, and Yahtzee going on. The boys have control of the bathroom for 15 more minutes before the girls take over the showers. Popcorn and brownies are the snacks of choice and the youth can be heard singing praise songs on the steps just outside the dorm. It’s safe to say that it will be hard to leave this little corner of Guatemala.

Fun with the Canaries!

Playing with all these Canaries is hard work!

I can stand all by myself now!

I'm just as cute as my little doll baby!

I love playing on our new playground!

Who has my bubbles?

Hey, Andres!  What's that you're eating?
Oops! You caught me!
