MORE HAPPENINGS AT THE MNC!

It’s day two at the Center for the Leesburg and Maryland team, and routines are starting to feel familiar. Those scary diaper changes aren’t so terrifying anymore, although they are no less messy. The guys who changed their first diaper yesterday are now professionals.
Tara from Leesburg had a WOW moment helping GERSON after a particularly messy bathroom experience. Her patience and gentleness helped keep the situation under control and Gerson was clean as a whistle by the end of it! Thank you Tara for your willingness to get down and dirty for Jesus!

Also in the Ducks room, CARLOS and ABELINO were spotted having a blast on the tricycles. Abelino drove Carlos in figure-eights all over the room while Carlos was beaming with joy. During our WOW time we talked about how great it is to see Carlos smile!
KEVIN, one of the Ducks, helped the maintenance crew tote some lumber around. In addition to being one of the most outgoing and friendly kids at the center, he corrected intern Kaysey’s Spanish today.  What can’t he do?!

ROSA in the Canaries has been at the center for just 3 ½ weeks and every time she gets held and then set down, she cries and cries and is inconsolable. But today, after being held for 30-45 minutes by a member of the God’s Child group that was visiting the center, she was set down and began playing with a baby doll and smiling and really enjoying herself. Rachel (the intern who has been working in the Canary room the past 4 weeks) shed tears of joy and pride upon realizing how far Rosa has come in so short a time.

OVIDIO in the Canaries learned how to stand up on his own today! We are now beginning to help him learn to walk!  By the way, for those of you who remember Estuardo, this is his younger brother!
MARIA FERNANDA, the 3 ½ pound one month old who was brought in just 8 days ago, has gained 8 ounces! She is doing remarkably well!
In the Bunnies, MARTA and ROSA competed for who could be the LAST one to finish dinner!

Intern Sarah and Translator Olivia shared a devotion time with the women who work at the Center. Sarah talked about being a genuine Christ Follower (inspired by the book the interns are reading, Not a Fan). She shared from Matthew 23, when Jesus calls the Pharisees out saying they are like the white washed tombs: nice on the outside, but full of dead bones on the inside.  In other words, they appeared righteous to onlookers but were really full of hypocrisy on the inside. The women opened up and shared their thoughts on being a true Christian. They shared how very much they appreciate the daily devotions that our groups bring, since they do not always have the opportunity to attend church due to their schedules.

This afternoon a group from North Dakota came with "God’s Child" to visit the Center and play with  the children. Some of the Squirrels were delighted to receive manicures from the girls. It was adorable watching them tenderly blow on the fresh coat of paint to dry. The "God’s Child" leader was here three and a half years ago when Orphan’s Heart brought their first group. He was amazed at the changes that have taken place and impressed with how well the Center is now running.  The Center has seen a few facelifts and has helped many families in that time.  We’re looking forward to seeing what God will do within this next year!
SWEET YULISSA!
