Greetings from Antigua, Guatemala!
This trip actually started when we were first impressed to
come. During the process, funds were raised, payments were made, packing was completed, and we left
our homes, jobs and families to come to this land all because of a commitment we had made in
our hearts. Upon our arrival, we saw a rainbow in the mountains as we landed...a great reminder that God has been and is going to be with us all the way!
Our group consists of 15 people who range from a
17-yr old high school senior, to a childcare provider, office worker, and
pastor. We came from different parts of Florida - Live Oak, Tallahassee, Plant
City and Miami. The group bonded quickly and within a 24 hour period we knew
each other’s names and a lot about each other’s lives back in the States.
Sunday morning
we had a worship time led by Pastor John. In the place of musical worship, we
looked at three Psalms (145, 146, and 147) and several shared what God spoke to
them through the verses. One that stood out to me was Psalm 146:7, “He … gives
food to the hungry.” We are here to help with the malnourished, but there are
many people in Guatemala who need spiritual food. Pastor John encouraged us to
make “Finish It” our goal for the week: we invested in our trip when we came,
and we need to finish what God has called us to do with the children and others
we have contact with each day.
Tomorrow morning, bright and early, we will begin
our time at the Malnutrition Center. Please pray for each of us that God will
use us to accomplish His plan this week, and that by Friday we can say we
“Finished It!”
