TANZANIA - Day 7

Today started early, with everyone on the bus and driving to the house before 7 am. We split into two groups-- with some headed to town and the rest staying back to do some serious house cleaning. The house on the property was built over twenty years ago, and we are not sure if it had ever been cleaned.  It literally took all day. Now it looks great, and so much brighter!
While we were cleaning, we were running out of water. Ksusha went to pull some water from the well. Unfortunately, the rope had been untied from the stay and when she threw in the bucket it went straight to the bottom rope and all! We all had a good time teasing her!

The small group at the house accomplished a lot: floors scoured, bedroom painted, loft cleaned,  kitchen cabinets cleaned out, and the newly bought kitchen supplies put in them. After cleaning up our supplies, the house crew decided to go see the fish pond. It is looking great and just waiting for the liner!

About that time the city group returned. Some of their ventures had been successful and others were not. They were still not able to purchase cows! After arriving to buy the calves, they were informed that they were not ready to sell yet!! It has been decided that Ephriam, our neighbor who will be helping us with the cows, will take care of purchasing them for us. Thank goodness for great neighbors! They were successful at getting a bank account set up. This is quite a process here with trips to lawyers, the photo copy store, pictures being taken, and dealing with the bank! They were also able to stop and get a few more supplies that were needed to finish projects at the house.

When the bus pulled in at 3:30 there were more jobs to complete. Juma and some of the other men began working on finishing the deck. Shannin and Kaylene were eager to hang the curtains since everything was finally clean. Doug and Ron discussed more plans for the well, and then Justin showed up. Justin is the man who helps us at MagiTech, our well drillers. There was lots of discussion on lines and septic with lots of great ideas being decided on.

The group finally finished at 5:30 and loaded the bus back to the Lodge. We were all exhausted, but feeling very satisfied with all we were able to accomplish today!!

Oh, one more fun thing happened today: Gabriel brought us our chickens! Yea for fresh eggs!
