Guatemala, Nov 30-Dec 6, 2011

Gautemala - Day 2: I am told that once you've been to the Malnutrition Center once, you're a pro. Each person gets baptized into the fire almost immediately upon first arrival. That was true today. Just after we arrived, Howie (from Orphan's Heart) gave us a tour, which included getting to see the facilities and all the kids in their various rooms. Well, at some point during the tour we noticed Barbara was missing (not that that is anything really surprising). Nonetheless, I go looking for her and find her changing a child from one of the first rooms we visited. He was a mess and she could not leave him that way. Barbara took the these babies like they were her own. It was a very special thing to see. But not only Barbara...seeing Lynn swinging the kids, Bette Sue pushing the kids around in the train, and LeeAnn rocking two babies at a time...priceless. The kids here crave attention and we got to be the ones who were blessed to love them. Today was wonderful! Shawn Messer
