Today was amazing we woke up to a beautiful rainy day. Everyone was on time finishing with breakfast and Ebb gave an amazing yet simple devotion. The bus ride up to the center seemed to take forever everyone. We just wanted to get back to our babies. The construction team was informed that they would not be building the house today because of the rain. Robert Ratcliff jumped for joy! He was so torn up about leaving sweet baby girl Maria. Robert was so busy all day he tried to give the men mopping the floors some relief but he kept literally running back to check on Maria. Our goal has been to share to love of Jesus with each child but the children have all blessed us to the point of humbleness. We are the ones being blessed by God's amazing love.
The biggest uh-oh we had today is: we all got so excited over helping today we rushed through our lunch break and went back inside and woke the babies up an hour early from there naps............ Richard Fry was awful in that he could not wait to get his arms wrapped around a precious little one or two. The nanny had to keep telling him to wait. One of the most amazing things that happened today was that the nannies were trying to figure out the baby slings that Angela Hassebrock had donated for the center. Savannah was familiar with them because Brylee had one so she taught the nannies how to use them. They were so happy to have their hands free.
Alli, had the opportunity to help a little girl that was not able to walk have enough confidence to take her first steps. Aden changed his first diaper today. The baby survived and there are pictures to come...
Brother Brad asked Taylor to coach him through the diaper changing process. Taylor was delighted to help him learn especially since there was a major surprise waiting for him in the diaper. Brother Brad survived.
Kathaleen was a huge hit with the older toddlers today. She set up a painting station and the children had a delightful time. Not sure about all the helpers... it was so adorable to see them all working with the paint and brushes.
Linda Rudd and Jessica were super women in the nursery… changing diapers, feeding, rocking, laughing and loving the babies. Jessica is going to be a fantastic mommy some day. Linda saved every scrap of food nobody wanted and on the way home she had me throwing it out the bus window to all of the skinny, pitiful street dogs... Tomorrow the dogs will probably follow us to the center.
The apple does not fall far from the tree. Amy told me right off the bat that she would only be doing construction work. Oh well, she was all over those babies, and loving it. The truth is all of the ones that came to do construction can not hardly leave the sweet babies alone. But tomorrow rain or shine the house will be built, a home was promised to a family and they will have it.
I must tell you this, Ebb is working in the kitchen each day with two single Guatemalan women and they are especially proud to have him. Today he slipped out of the kitchen and came and fed a baby, the actual food that he had prepared. Every one of us has work so hard each day. The time flies by. When we are told it’s time to leave we can hardly pull ourselves away. It’s not until after we are on the bus and headed back that we realize how tired we are. How can so few workers take care of so many children starving for just a few minutes of attention each day?
Psalms 27:10 Your Mother may forsake you. Your Father may forsake you. BUT GOD will never forsake you.
