On our second day here in Guatemala, we went to the malnutrition center for children. Having just stepped foot into the building some of us were already in tears. There are 74 children in the center and about 24 workers to tend to all of them. We all dispersed into our little age groups and went into the rooms to play with the children. Their sweet little faces just beamed with joy as we would pick them up and hold them tight in our arms. We felt privileged just to hold one of these sweet little babies. They have a strict schedule that they follow here at the center every day. It consists of bathing them, playing with them, snack time, nap time, lunch, changing them, brushing teeth, and more play time. It was very hectic as we were all trying to get the hang of things but by the end of the day I think the feeling was mutual that we couldn’t wait for tomorrow! Some of us have even changed our very first diaper here at the center! Being here at the center and helping out didn’t even feel like work it was more rewarding than anything else. By the end of the day we were all physically exhausted but just as much emotionally exhausted! God had shown us so many different things in one day and it was so great to share all of our wow moments at the end of the day! God really opened our eyes to things we would have never seen before!
