Today we arrived at the Malnutrition Center, excited to spend more time with the children we have come to know and love. The morning begins with bathing, dressing and feeding nearly 80 children. We can’t help but wonder what a task this is when the teams are not here to lend a helping hand. The staff workers spend 12 hours working non stop, on what seems to be never ending. Amazingly, the workers never appear frustrated or stressed!
We are SO THANKFUL to have Dr. Bala along on this trip. He has managed to attend to each child in the Center, and provided necessary treatment for many. Several of the children are having skin related issues, most of which can be relieved in one treatment. Please pray for one child, by the name of Marcus, in need of hospitalization.
After a busy morning, the children were ready for naptime. Following lunch, we were able to help out with dishwashing, kitchen cleanup, and helping to fold and sort a mountain of laundry, before heading back to our areas to attend to waking children. There beautiful smiles make us forget how tired we have become this week!
Each day it becomes more difficult to pack up and leave. The bus ride to the hotel usually includes discussion about return trips!
Tonight we enjoyed a taste of Guatemalan food and music, at a local eatery.
The First Baptist/Faith & Family class, want to send a shout out to Jerry and Christi Haag…if not for them, we would not have known about this opportunity to serve! We all love and miss you!
God is blessing us in BIG ways this week, it is a joy and honor to be the hands and feet of Christ this week!
