It's Monday, the first day of work for the new team of mission workers. The trip down was smooth, the hotel is incredible (the word "resort" definitely applies), the food has been amazing, but everyone was eager to get to work today.
A group of the men are working on a new chicken coop. They've actually taken to calling it the chicken condo, the pollo palace, etc. The Center hopes to have space for 200 chickens! That sounds like so many, until you realize they use 1000 eggs every week. Chickens will be given the option to contribute (eggs), or perhaps sacrifice! The men worked very hard leveling the ground for the new coop, removing a pine stump and moving several piles of dirt and gravel for the eventual slab.
Other members of the groups spent the day playing with the children, cooking meals for them, feeding them, changing them, and helping them get down for their naps. Right now the team members are filling in for the ladies at the Center, so the ladies can have a time of worship and Bible study.
Sunday's excursions were amazing; zip lining 400 feet over a canyon on a coffee plantation is hard to beat, as is seeing puffs of smoke rising from the volcano near the hotel. But, not surprisingly, most of the team members will probably say that today has been more rewarding.
