Again today we woke up at 6:30, and had a morning devotion at breakfast. We talked today about not only laying down our weaknesses to the Lord, but also our strengths. It was really good, and the breakfast was equally satisfying. After we had finished up, we hopped into our vans and drove to the center for the last time this week.
We were told that today would be all about playing with and enjoying the children. The past few days have been spent working and having less time with the kids, but today was all about them. We played with them, fed them, changed them and rocked them to sleep. It was a very relaxed day altogether.
Every day so far, we had left at about 4pm, but today we had to cut it short and leave at 12. The goodbyes were really tough. We had all become so attached to each of the kids that we just didn’t want to leave them behind as just a memory. We had to though, so we did. After we left the center, we ate at Pollo Campero- about the equivalent of our American KFC. It was delicious as expected, of course.
When we finished lunch, we came back and just relaxed at the hotel for about an hour. When everyone had rested up, we all went out to the market again and finished up our shopping. It seems like everyone got everything they wanted.
When the shopping was done, we came back to the hotel and had dinner. It was a traditional Guatemalan meal for large gatherings, and it was (once again) delicious! We were still hungry though, so we walked out to the McDonalds afterwards, and filled our American food withdrawals. Not to mention, it is the nicest McDonalds any of us have ever seen!
Well, now we’re back at the hotel all just hanging out and spending quality time together. It’s so nice to be able to be so comfortable around a group of friends who also share the same love for the Lord. Anyway, it’s time to go to bed- G ‘night!
