Guatemala June 28th- July 4th, 2014

First Baptist Church Aurantia & First Baptist Church Naples

Final Day:
Our last day at the Malnutrition Center consisted of a wide variety of activities. It was business as usual in the morning as the new interns learned the routines, but the afternoon was anything but normal! (Dr.) Dulce arranged for all of the staff to receive pedicures thanks to donations of products from the volunteer team, and some of the team members provided the labor. A few of the men carried hot water to the “spa” and some played the guitar to add to the ambiance. Toward the end of the afternoon some of the older children performed several musical numbers to the delight of the audience. Most of the staff members work six days a week, twelve hours a day – and they are thrilled to have the job – so the break in their routine was a blessing to them and to the volunteers that served them.

As expected, the end of the day was bittersweet as we bid “adios” to our new friends. The team members and departing interns shed their share of tears as the said, “Buenas noches” for the last time to their charges.

Nite-nite sweet niƱos. God bless you and keep you until we meet again.
