INTERNS ARRIVE IN UGANDA!

What an incredible week!

After a few long days of travelling with Ron and Cynthia,
we FINALLY arrived in Kamonkoli!  We were so excited to meet the wonderful people we'll be working with while we're here!

We felt so welcome and comfortable from our very first day here!  Since we are staying here all summer as interns, we were glad to feel so at home!

Saturday, we jumped straight in with attending Awana and were blown away by the amount of children present and the discipline they had at such a small age. First and second graders were quoting Scripture, and then third through sixth graders were digging deeper into God's Word. We were encouraged by the passion these children had in their faith and in their worship.  Hearing so many small sweet voices join together in praising our Lord left us in awe. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE TIME OF WORSHIP!!!

We also visited the new Genesis Primary School which has just been completed where we will be doing most of our work while we are here.  Wow!  Praise God for the provision of this school for the children of this community!

Sunday, we arrived to Sunday School with a packed room of children waiting for us. Children continued streaming in for the entire hour we were there. There were close to 200 children present by the time we left for the service. A team from Texas working in a nearby church came, and one of their women led the children in singing, and shared the story of the disciples on the boat with Jesus in the midst of the storm. She encouraged the children that when we are afraid, we can trust in Him!!
The church service was an incredible experience. We joined the congregation in singing, dancing, jumping and shouting praises.  Yes, I did say dancing!  A guest speaker from the same team from Texas preach about how the Gospel is good news for all!

After church, we had the opportunity to walk home, and what an amazing thing to experience. We had multiple children on every side of us. It was great to be able to walk and interact with the children of the community.
After lunch we went and made some home visits. Each home we stopped at was a blessing.

At the first stop we had the opportunity to pray with a family who just lost their teenage son to AIDS.  Please pray for this family and his grieving mom.
After praying and talking with this family we were able to give out clothes and shoes to children who did not have any. We did the same things in the next two stops that we made.
Sharing the love of Jesus in word and deed!

We also came to the realization that when giving out clothes recently, a little boy and one of his brothers was mistakenly given a dress!

So of course, we took care of that!!

This journey is off to a wonderful start, and we are excited to see what God has in store for the rest of the summer. Throughout these first few days we know God has been with us every step of the way. God has been with his people since the very beginning of time, and we are strengthened by what His word tells us that HE is with us now, giving us all we need (2 Peter 1:3).
