ORPHAN'S HEART in UGANDA Friday

Friday, August 02, 2013

As I sit here and think back on the day, the first thing I think of is HOW AMAZING GOD IS! The team that God put together for this trip to Uganda is full of many gifts and talents. We have leaders, teachers, prayer warriors, singers, mothers, fathers, and so much more.  Isn’t it amazing to see how God has a perfect plan? God is so GOOD!!!
Today we had the opportunity to teach a Guardian Seminar. A Guardian in Uganda is the equivalent of a foster parent in the U.S. The topics discussed were parenting styles, stewardship, and hygiene.  The men and women all shared in heart-felt discussion, and it was very evident that the parents and guardians of Kamonkoli are wise, loving caregivers.

The morning started off with worship that many of us had never experienced.  The voices, clapping, and dancing were a beautiful example of what worship is meant to be.  The attendees left their worries at the door and gave everything they had to praising the name of Jesus!  The energy was exciting and powerful.  We truly felt God’s presence in their tiny church.

At the end of the seminar we were able to present a Bible to each family that has a sponsored child with Orphans Heart.  As the presentation began, the congregation grew quiet (after much singing and praising), and as the first name was called out, it became very clear that this was not going to be your average Bible presentation ceremony.  The men and women came forward, many in tears, several kneeling in gratitude and every member of the team received hugs and handshakes.  For many they were given their first Bible, and we knew without a doubt that this was a very special gift.  Several paused and began reading their new Bible just steps outside of the church. We are so excited to see how God will continue to work in the lives of the Kamonkoli people and in the lives of our team.

Please pray for us as we teach Awana on Saturday and lead a Ladies Retreat on Tuesday and Wednesday.
