The last day with the children was fun and overwhelming
in many ways. As some of us prepared to
leave the center for the first time, and others for the second, third, or even
tenth, emotions ran high. We were all sad to leave the sweet children, but we
know that they are in excellent care!
Today, one of the "Canaries" got to visit with
their family. Dalton, one of our younger
team members, made the comment that he was happy to know that the baby was
loved. Isn't it awesome to know that the parents have their baby's best
interest at heart?
Also, as one of the team members was doing some
electrical work in a "Canaries" room, the baby got their hands on his
tools and almost got a good taste of some pliers. Even though it doesn't seem like much more
than a silly story, that baby had the energy to move across their crib to get a
grasp on those pliers, and that is a great accomplishment.
We also saw sweet Sucena from the "Chicks" help
out one of her friends, Roxana. As they
were making a trip back from the potty (where they can be found often) Roxana
was not very happy and stopped in the hallway. When Sucena realized that Roxana
was in distress, she turned around and went and grabbed Roxana's hand, and off
they went, hand-in-hand, to their play area!
Even though most of us are leaving a little piece of our
hearts here, we know that we will continue to pray daily for these children. As
the week comes to an end, we know that God knows what our faults are, but he
still used us as we were to minister to these children.
