Day
3 at the Center was very eventful. Between morning baths and last hugs,
it seemed that there wasn’t much time to spare.
“Canaries”
enjoyed being fed and rocked and changed, while loving team members tended to
“Bunnies." “Chicks” took numerous potty breaks, and “Ducks” and
“Squirrels” played with hand-made bubble contraptions.
Overnight,
some of the children were moved up to different age groups, including Walter (Ducks),
who recently had corrective eye surgery.
The
“Ducks” and “Squirrels” enjoyed their hand-made bubble contraptions made by the
interns. The contraptions consisted of two straws and a piece of
string. The children dipped the contraption in Dawn dishwashing soap and
then ran with it to make huge bubbles. It was definitely a sight to see.
They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The
crafts have been going well this week! This afternoon, the “Chicks” made
lions out of paper plates and finger paint. The lions face was already
drawn on the plate and the children got to finger paint the mane on the
lion. Also, at the bottom of the plate, the craft workers had written,
“Dios protégé”, which means, “God protects”.
Again,
it was incredible to realize that even after we leave, God will protect these
children and keep them closer than we ever could.
